Address Standardization and Correction
Address correction standardizes your address, city, province and
postal code data. Spelling mistakes and formatting errors are
automatically fixed, and a status code is appended to indicate which
changes were made.
We create a secondary set of address columns and store the corrected
data there - we never overwrite your existing data unless you tell
us to.
There are two procedures commonly referred to as "address
correction" - one in which the correction rules are certified by
Canada Post's SERP (Software Evaluation and Recognition
Program), and one in which statistical reference data is used to
perform the validation and correction.
SERP-recognized software or services are what your letter shop or
mail house uses to process your file so you can receive discounts
from Canada Post. It is equivalent to CASS certification in the USA.
The SERP-recognized software that we have seen results from does a
good job with normal urban address data. However, it often fails to
correct such simple things as changing "10 AVE" to "10TH AVE" (or
the reverse, where applicable).
That's where our Singularity™ Correction address
standardization service can save you money.
Our Singularity Correction system matches and corrects more
addresses than the SERP-recognized services, which makes it ideal
for cleaning up your data before it goes to the letter shop.
We guarantee that using our service before sending your list to a
letter shop will result in higher accuracy rates and larger postal
discounts, or we will refund your money.
We only charge $3.00(*) per thousand records, and in most cases, you
only need to run your data through once. To save you even more
money, if you want to run your list through Singularity
Correction on a regular basis, we can keep track of which of
your records will not need correction, and act only on those that
do. Maintaining that tracking data costs $1/M per year but will save
you up to 70% of our already inexpensive fees. You also won't need
to think about which records to send for correction. Simply send all
your data, and we'll sort out which ones need work.
We'll also keep track of which postal codes Canada Post has made
changes to, and how many records you have that are affected by
changes made by Canada Post.
